A novel synthetic receptor based technology

AFFINOMER
This project sets aim at introducing a novel synthetic molecularly imprinted polymer receptor-based biosensor for the testing of biomedically relevant biomarkers in urine

A large section of healthcare focuses on the detection of key biomarkers that can be used to determine and monitor disease. Over the years the technologies utilized in this pursuit have advanced and changed, with the devices now targeted towards point-of-care (POC) analysis and personalized medicine. However, there is a constant need to provide more effective testing devices that provide more accurate and quicker results, higher ease of use, and higher cost effectiveness. The proposed project therefore sets aim at introducing a novel synthetic (molecularly imprinted polymer) receptor-based biosensor for the testing of biomedically relevant biomarkers in urine. Molecular imprinted polymers (MIPs) have the potential to offer an accurate, quantitative readout of multiple target biomarkers from one urine sample in a matter of minutes. Given the breadth and complexity of the biomedical diagnostic testing market, this project will focus on identifying which testing areas would benefit the most from the unique advantages of the MIPs technology, addressing questions regarding market adoption, business potential, receptor development, and product positioning to generate a product development plan.
