Currently, many implantations of living tissue fail due to the lack of functional vasculature within the implanted tissue. Ultimately, this may lead to implant failure. This project introduces nanoparticles to support implanted living tissues during their prevascular phase. Moreover, the prolonged tissue survival is anticipated to accelerate the formation of a functional vasculature thus leading to increased tissue function and implantation success rates.
