Burn wounds are difficult to treat, hard to heal and often resulting in scarring for life. Currently, complex burn wounds are treated with traditional bandage dressings, antibiotics, and surgery in the worst cases. Changing bandages in burn wounds is a painful process that leads to further scarring, done every couple of days depending on the bandage. It is also labour-intensive and time-consuming for hospitals. In this project, we will study the commercial and technical feasibility of a new generation of burn wound care bandages capable of maintaining optimal wound healing conditions without the need for recurrent dressing changes.
