Brain prosthesis to restore vision in blind people' gebruiken

Phosphoenix is a medical technology spinoff from the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience, a research institute of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. Supported by Medtech TTT, the company aims to develop a brain prosthesis to restore vision in blind people. Their proprietary probe has proven to be capable of artificially stimulating nerve cells in parts of the brain involved in visual perception. The research team’s ground-breaking pre-clinical work demonstrated the efficacy of this approach, generating higher-resolution artificial images as never seen before, and has been published in one of the world’s top academic journals (Science 2020).

Phosphoenix has raised pre-seed financing provided by the TTT Medtech Fund, FIRST Fund and Innovatiefonds Noord-Holland.
