Team Up Day 2024: Bigger and better

Team Up Day 2024: Bigger and better

On November 14th, Team Up Day returned to DeFabrique in Utrecht for the second time. This year, the event was bigger and better. Here’s a brief overview of the day.

This second edition of the TTT Team Up Day honoured its name, as all Dutch TTTs teamed up to organise it. The venue was once again transformed into a paradise for networking, with inspiring quotes about the TTT scheme’s impact all around. There was also a walk of innovation showcasing some technologies that were developed thanks to TTT.

Esther Rodijk, director of TTT MedTech, was excited about the day’s success: “We organised this day to bring together our startup teams from the universities, investors interested in the very early phase, and our ecosystem partners. All because we want to share knowledge, network, and experience the fun of bringing companies to life.”

The day started with a show by the theatre group Kapok, which revolved around ‘radical connection’. Visitors were invited to connect with the people around them, breaking the ice for further connections during the rest of the event. Soon, the nervous giggles around the room turned into generous belly laughs, setting the stage for a fun day.

And it’s more than just laughs. Fenrir van Koert, project manager TTT at RVO: “The TTT instrument is very important because a lot of knowledge stays on the shelves of the universities. But it has to go out and go to great startups. And on a day like this, everything is coming together. It’s a great day to meet everyone.”

During the day, visitors could visit different sessions, which provided value for university spin-offs in (deep) tech. From sessions on finding funding and ask-me-anything sessions with investors to sessions on building a successful team, there was inspiration up for grabs for everyone. The day concluded with the Startup Roulette by Golden Egg Check, in which founders got the opportunity to connect with investors who matched their field. During last year’s event, valuable matches were made and it’s bound to be the same this year.

The visitors went home fully inspired. Mildred Cano-Velázquez is a researcher of sensors for miniaturised systems and an aspiring spin-off founder. She looks back on a fantastic day: “It was full of interactions. In particular, the Walk of Innovation was the perfect setting to showcase our technology and get feedback from investors, staff, and support, as well as other startups. I definitely went home with a lot of contacts.”
