Starting from a patented technology for innovative COx separation from complex gas stream, SEPCOx aims to provide a concrete solution to the decarbonization of heavy industries. We use conceptually-novel sorbent materials able to:
A. Selectively sequestrate CO and CO2 from complex streams.
B. Directly upgrade the COx into valuable syngas during regeneration in H2.
TTT-GT voucher supported activities including:
- Proof of Concept: experimental validation and scaled up laboratory test
- Market individuation and competitive landscape
- PoC-based initial business case
Thanks to the project results, we are able to:
- Demonstrate the scalability of the technology with a 10x increase in sorbent synthesis batch size and 25x increase in sorbent mass per test
- Identify multiple markets by addressing both decarbonization needs of heavy emitting sector (i.e. iron and steel manufacturing) and gas separation needs of energy industry (i.e. biomass gasification)
- Run a bottom-up estimation of the CAPEX and OPEX based on the PoC results
The projects move on towards the official incorporation of the TU Delft spin-off company, develop the roadmap for pilot scale demonstration and fostering partnerships and collaborations with industrial stakeholders.
